In January 2007, the Rita Marley Foundation invited physician volunteers from Global Health Force and Integrative Clinics International to Kononuru, Ghana to study the possibility of establishing a long-term community clinic in the area. We met with the local Chief and other leaders of the community as well as public health officials for the area to learn about the needs of the community.
Our volunteers reported their findings to the board and it was decided that
GHF would partner with the Rita Marley Foundation. The Rita Marley Foundation is building a clinic in Kononuru, and Global Health Force plans to send a team of medical volunteers to the clinic to provide medical services and supplies for the community next year. We hope that by working with our partner organization, the Rita Marley Foundation, we can establish a permanent community clinic for the town of Kononuru.
