In July, 2008, Global Health Force sent a team to the Dominican Republic to provide medical care to a portion of the underserved population of Santo Domingo and Bahoruco.
Paul Moore shares his experience with this mission.
As soon as we stepped off the plane in Santo Domingo, it was obvious to me that I was not in Seattle anymore.
The remainder of the group, all from Southern California, probably didn’t feel quite the same temperature and humidity shock that I felt. This was to be my first mission trip with GHF, and I was palpably excited on many levels. Not only would I be taking part in a humanitarian mission that I felt sure would benefit hundreds of people who really needed assistance in their lives, I would also be experiencing firsthand on a personal level that which I knew Global Health Force did best – delivering high quality medical care in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible. Not to mention the fact that I would be driving a large van filled with medical personnel, in a country that was seemingly unfamiliar with the rules of the road.
